SAN DIEGO COMIC CON!!!!!

What began in 1970 as a couple of guys sitting around talking about their comic books has now grown into a multimillion dollar convention. Where people from around the world all travel to San Diego California for 4 days to get the latest in movies, television, games, toys, and of Corse, comics. San Diego Comic Con has once again come and gone. I am beaten, I am broken, but I will give you my thoughts on everything major that came out the past 4 days. I’ve included links to the panels for anyone that wants to watch themselves, curtesy of Youtube.com/SchmoesKnow

Now the only panels I got to really go to personally was the Screen Junkies Honest Trailer/Movie Fights Panel. One of my main highlights of the entire Con. I had so much fun with it. They should be posting it up on their YouTube channel later this week. I also attended the panel Movies That Never Got Made which focused mostly on Jon Schnepp’s documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? A film that I have been very excited for and I will be reviewing it as soon as I sit down and watch the entire Blu Ray. Including the 10 hours of bonus footage.

I spent my time for the most part wondering back and forth from outside Hall H to the Omni Hotel Lobby where there was free Wi-Fi. Between these points I came across all sorts of content. The Heroes Reborn Trailer, which looks interesting enough. I’ve never seen the original series, every time I tried to watch I never got through more than 3 episodes for one reason or another. But I definitely will give this a look. Blindspot the new NBC show starring Jaime Alexander looks to have a few episodes then be cancelled. I don’t see how it can really last long. It looks dull to me honestly. And for no reason in particular. It just feels like this is one of those shows that will sizzle out and be cancelled within the first episode, which is sad because I really like Jaime Alexander.

So Hall H began With The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part II. The panel was moderated by none other than Conan O’Brien. He did a great job being able to mix his comedy in with the cast and keep the panel rolling soothingly. These guys have such great chemistry together. On and off the screen. It is so fun to see them interact with each, and you truly feel the emotion and love they have for these films. They played a new trailer for the film which has yet to be released online. But from the sounds of it was action packed and showcased the true feel of the movie. Jennifer Laurence is an amazing person. She has the complete blend of intelligence, beauty, and class, all while being a complete ditz. She’s like a starburst, a complete contradiction. You hear her and think she’s ditzy until she turns the charm on and says something that completely blows your mind. She truly is the whole package, and true genuine person. You can catch the entire panel right here.

Fox truly brought the house down when they took the stage. They opened up with The Maze Runner followed by Victor Frankenstein. Where they each brought out the cast and spoke about the films, showing the new trailers for each. But honestly these were just the preshow for Fox. They then gave you Fantastic Four as an appetizer. But they finally brought the house down when Ryan Reynolds, not is costume oddly, came out on stage and introduced the raunchy, dirty, R rated panel for Dead pool! Which you can see here. As you see it was fun, it was amped up. The crowd was crazy hyped for it. I got a chance to see the footage they showed, and let me tell you, it was awesome. The bulk of it was the live action version of the leaked test footage from a year ago, with a lot of action set to DMX’s X Gone Give It to Ya. You’d think this was the main event, but they didn’t stop there.

Out came the cast of X-Men Apocalypse. Another amazing panel with amazing footage. After the footage Hugh Jackman all but confirmed that The Wolverine 3 would in fact be Old Man Logan. Which we can all agree, will be epic! Now the footage was very basic due to the fact they are so early in the production process. But we see Jean, and Jubilee, and quick sight of Cyclops. You get glimpses of Apocalypse all throughout it. But then, to close out the footage, Magneto stares at the screen and asks “Who the F*** are you?” and boom, we get it, Apocalypse in full garb. And he looks amazing. And if that wasn’t enough, they walk Channing Tatum, Gambit himself, to be included in their epic X-Men Selfie. This panel was so fun, and so exciting, and I cannot wait for the film! These panels were just so much fun, and the excitement they all show about the films makes me even more excited for them.

Next up we had the much anticipated Star Wars Panel. So much excitement, would we get the official announcement of Collin Trevorrow directing Episode IX? What about the Anthology films? Well we didn’t really get much of that all. Instead, we got Harrison Freaking Ford! That’s right ladies and gentlemen; Han Solo himself was in the house.  This was so awesome. Seeing the big 3 on stage at Comic Con is amazing. Plus added in the entire cast of Episode VII, get out bro! It was amazing! And I think bringing Harrison Ford out was there way to please the fans for not bringing any new footage or announcements. We got some behind the scenes footage, but nothing really new. But JJ brought out some of their practical effects creatures, and it was just incredible all the insight they brought with them. You can really tell this cast is passionate, and fans of the material. After the panel they took the fans outside and had an amazing Star Wars concert where every member of the audience was given a Light Saber!

WB/DC is going to be my vote for the Winner of Comic Con though. Starting with The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and then going into PAN They hit the ground running. But the meat of the morning was Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Suicide Squad kicked it off with some incredible footage that can now be seen right here. Next up they brought out the entire cast of BvS for their Panel, and these guys are so into it makes me ready for it! For quite a while now Captain America: Civil War has been my most anticipated for 2016, this panel, and this trailer, are giving Marvel and Civil War a run for their money.

All and all Comic Con was freaking amazing guys. If I had to Jeebus Score it, I’d go 5.5 with the full bonus of .5 for EVERYTHING, giving San Diego Comic Con the first ever perfect 6.0 Jeebus Score! An amazing time, and I look forward to going to it again next year! Make sure to check out all the Comic Con coverage at Cinelinx.Com! And all always Jackass Nation, Keep on Nerding!

Mad Max: Fury Road

One of the most hyped films of the last two years has been the sequel to a franchise we haven’t seen an installment for in about 30 years. From the stories of set problems, to the film getting push backed nearly a year. Not always a good thing. However, when it came to this, Mad Max Fury Road, whatever they did during that time of pushing this film back and getting it to us, they did a freaking badass job! This film is epic upon epic, upon action, upon badassdom! It is an adrenalin rush, nonstop thrill ride. I don’t know what other clichés I can through at you to describe this movie. I’m actually having a really hard time concentrating on getting my thoughts out to this film. A matter of fact, I don’t think I can, I am way too wrapped up in what I just saw to coherently tell you about this film. I’m going to have to sleep this off and come back to you tomorrow.

Ok, let’s try this again. Mad Max Fury Road stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Abbey Lee and Courtney Eaton. It is written and directed by the series original writer/director George Miller. And guess what, Miller is 70 years old. You would never expect that. Mad Max Fury Road tells the tale of Furiosa (Theron) as she attempts to flee War Boys cult leader King Joe, along with his five wives. As she sneaks them out of their land The Citadel, her journey becomes intertwined with that of Max (Hardy). Realizing that they are out for freedom and not more war, Max makes the decision to help them attempt to survive the journey to Furiosa’s homeland that she taken from so many years before.

No joke. This thing is literally a 2 hour action thrill ride. There is very little downtime. When there is, the story is pushed and the characters are flushed out. Miller does an incredible job giving you reasons to relate and root for these characters in the very short scenes in between intense action sequences. The action drives this film. Like the Mad Max films of the past this one is right on par. If not more. Every now and then a film comes along that is so special, and so unique that it advances the action film genre. This will be one of those films. Fury Road will be regarded as one of the greatest action films of all time.

It is shot beautifully. Every scene is crisp and clear, and the CGI is mixed with the practical effects seamlessly. There is not an ounce of shaky cam during the action, you see and feel every single explosion and shot with such detail that you almost in these vehicles with these characters. The designs are very reminiscent of the original trilogy, yet add a new day feel to them. Now I didn’t see this in IMAX, or even X D or 3D. I went to my regular 2D screen and saw a normal digital screening. But will say, that after watching it, I plan to go see it again in an AMC Prime or IMAX screen, this is one of those films that needs to be witnessed in that high definition, with superior sound quality.

I don’t get why people are calling it Charlize Theron’s film. Yes she is a top billed actress in it, and a star, but I never got the feeling that this wasn’t a story about Max. It’s not really told from her point of view, I felt more that I was following Max around, but I get why I could be construed that way. There are also complaints that Theron’s character is too badass in the film, and to that I say you are crazy. If anything, I would’ve liked her to be even more badass. She is incredible. I was kind of taken out of the film for a while, while trying to figure out who one of the wives was, then it hit me, oh that’s the Rosie chick from Transformers 3. Good to see her again. Hoults character is very intriguing, it’s kind of the first time we see one of the craziest with some actual heart, and you get to know him some and feel for him.

Minor problems with the film, no film that isn’t The Godfather or Empire Strikes Back is perfect. If you are not a fan of the Mad Max films, you are not going to like this one. In 2 hours, it is probably an hour and a half of car chase action. So if you to this film not know that it is indeed a Mad Max film of old, yea you might walk out not liking it. But that’s really it. It is made to be an adrenaline rush. And that’s what it is. So I am scoring it a 5.0 with a .4 bonus for its insane action sequences that keep you heart pounding all movies long, bringing us to a 5.4 on the Jeebus scale. SO what say you Jackass Nation? Are you a fan of the Mad Max franchise? Are you looking forward to this one, or have you already seen it? Sound off in the comments below!

The Jeebus Score explained

The Jeebus score is out of a possible 6 points. Films are giving a max of 1 point each for Acting, Entertainment, and Casting, and a max of .5 for Dialog, Cinematography, and Direction. There is also a possible bonus up to .5. Any film between 2.5 and 4 is considered a good film. 4-5 is a great film. Anything over 5 is an incredibly amazing film. To get a perfect score of 6 a film will pretty much have to be The Empire Strikes Back or The Godfather.

Marvel with the Phase 3 Knockout Punch

So back in 2008 Marvel and DC really started swinging. DC took a few jabs and hooks in the early rounds, with the Dark Knight trilogy, but nothing devastating. Marvel really started to wear them down with the beginning of Phase II. Yea DC got a knock down with Man of Steel, but Marvel was up by 4 count. It was late in the fight when Marvel hit DC hard with uppercut called Guardians of The Galaxy. They seemed content to with the points in the bag and they’d just wait out the fight, win by decision. DC started swinging for the fences, boom, Justice League and an entire slate of films. DC was going for the knock out. Until to day, when we all realized Marvel was just rocking the rope-a-dope, and kaboom. Knockout punch. Marvel is the reigning champ.

So when DC released their slate of films in their shareholders meeting it was pretty cool. Named off their upcoming properties, got everyone excited, but in true Marvel fashion they upped the game at completely out of nowhere press event. Disney sent out invitations on Monday inviting media outlets and film pundits to come to a special Marvel Event at the El Capitan Theater. They spent the day dropping their Phase III plans that will cumulate in a 2 part Avengers Infinity War film extravaganza.

The upcoming Phase III reads like this:

  • Captain America 3: Civil War on May 6 2016
  • Doctor Strange on November 4 2016
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on May 5 2017
  • Thor 3: Ragnarok on July 28 2017
  • Black Panther(Starring Chadwick Bosewick) on November 3 2017
  • Avengers: Infinity War part 1 in May 2018
  • Captain Marvel on July 6 2018
  • Inhumans on November 2 2018
  • Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 on May 3 2019

So that’s what we have to look forward too. Before we get into what this all means let’s first look at what is missing. Iron Man 4. Not that it is needed. But it’s odd that it’s not there. And I do not know what the new picture deal is the Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel have come too, but I’d assume it includes both Avengers, Captain America, and either Black Panther, or Guardians 2. I think Black Panther makes more sense, but I’d love to see him Guardians.

Also missing is your solo Hulk film. No personally I don’t think we need a solo Hulk film. Yes the Ed Norton film The Incredible Hulk was good, but not as good as Hulk was in Avengers. However when asked about another solo film for the big ball of rage, Kevin Fiege replied:

“I wouldn’t say Hulk is absent from the timeline. I’d say Hulk is going to appear in many of those movies, particularly all the Avengers movies leading up to the Infinity War. Mark Ruffalo is on board for all those films and we’re excited for all those films. What happens with a standalone Hulk film? I’m going to say what I would have said about Black Panther last week or Captain Marvel before that, or Guardians of the Galaxy two years ago or Ant-Man ten years ago: We’ll see. We’d love to do it, we’d love to find a place to put it, but right now Hulk will be appearing with his friends in the other films.

So looks like we won’t be getting the big guy by himself, but that’s not to say we won’t be getting him. Where he will show up is anybody’s guess.

Well that leaves us with an exciting couple of years ahead of us. With as much as they gave us, they Marvel has also created more questions. Like when we will see Hulk. As well we will be looking for casting, who is Captain Marvel? Katee Sackoff? Is Benedict Cumberbatch Dr. Strange? Who will the Inhumans line up, will Black Bolt be a part of it? Is Vin Diesel going to be Black Bolt? Where will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. play in all of this? How about the Netflix characters? Will they be a part of this? Dare Devil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist? So many questions, so much to come!

Let’s look at Civil War first. The rumor says that after the events of Age of Ultron the government will be coming down on our heroes. And rightfully so. Looks like Iron Man has created the world’s biggest threat, based on something Ant Man began! So who should the Heroes of the world answer too? Welt he government obviously. And I would assume Stark is going to agree do to the creation of Ultron. You know who won’t agree? The worlds number 1 Boy Scout Captain America. This will further the rift between the leading heads of the Avengers and set them on a path that ends shield to flight stabilizer. With Black Panther caught right in the middle. But that’s not all. I predict, rightfully so, that Black Widow, Falcon, and Hawkeye will play crucial parts. But that’s not all. I bet War Machine/Iron Patriot makes his presence felt, as well as, wait for it, The Winter Soldier. That’s right. I’m where else does he fit in? He has to be involved in some potential.

Rumor for Strange says that Benedict Cumberbatch is close to signing. Well so was Phoenix. So I won’t put all my eggs in that basket just yet. I’m ok with the casting, but just okay. Seems like Cumberbatch is up for any and every role, and while I like him, and he’s obvious, I’d love something out of left field. Someone no one is expecting. The introduction of Strange will be significant. Especially if we want an eventual Planet Hulk. Maybe a phase 4 set on World War Hulk?

Black Panther is the one we as fans have been clambering for the most. And finally we will be getting it! And with Chadwick Bozeman no less! I think this is inspiring casting! I loved him in 42, I loved him Glory Road, he played Boobie Miles! And he was The Funk! He is one of the best! His inclusion in this universe really adds another level of talent! Looks like we will be getting hiom first in Civil War, probably without much character development, and we will probably get the real look at him when Black Panther hits us! The concept art is bad ass! BlackPanther If that doesn’t scream awesome, I don’t know what does!

Not much else is known about the other projects. Guardians 2 will look to recapture the magic, while Thor 3 will set us on the path to the Infinity War. Infinity War will be really interesting. Especially with the comments on how the Avenger line up will be forever changed after Age of Ultron. I expect the original line up, and the Guardians not to really make their presence felt until Part 2 in 2019.

However, all though Marvel has knocked out DC with this one, you best believe, DC is prepping for the rematch. We are looking at 30ish superhero films and shows in the next 6 years. The fight will continue, and no matter what happens, I think it is us fans who are the true winners.

The Rock joins Baywatch

Looks as if the Baywatch big screen adaption has just gained its first major star. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting The Rock has signed on to be the lead man in Paramount Pictures film.

Baywatch was an action drama set on the beaches of Los Angeles that ran from 1989 till 1999. The new film adoption is set to be directed by the team that brought us We’re The Millers, Sean Anders and John Morris, while the script has been originally penned by Jeremy Garlicky and Peter Tolan. Word is that n the original script, parts were written for both Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. Though there is no telling what version of the script will be used when the time comes.

The Rock was most recently scene in this years Hercules, and will next be seen reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in the Fast and Furious Franchise next summer. While both Anders and Morris are gearing up for the release of their next project Horrible Bosses 2

San Diego Comic Con Day 3

Ok, so major news Saturday out of Comic Con, I know I am two days late, but there was a lot to talk about. So without any further au due, let’s get into it.

DC opened up with nothing but Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. No rumored Shazaam info, no rumored schedule. Just pictures, and footage. The footage which is unable to be seen by anyone not at Comic Con, which is crap. But, I have a slight description. The footage allegedly opened up in Gotham, Supes is hovering in the air then on comes the Bat Signal. He glances down and it reveals Batman on a rooftop. Batman’s eyes glow blue revealing him to be in his tech armor, very reminiscent of Frank Miller’s the Dark Knight Returns. Supes eyes glow red and he flares up toward Batman and the footage ends. The film seems to take a lot of its cues from the graphic novel, which I think is a great idea. If you’ve read the novel The Dark Knight Returns or seen the animated film, you know how detailed and incredible that story is. From the announcement of the film with the quote from the graphic novel to this test footage, it’s been pretty clear what direction they are taking it. I for one am still not 100% onboard. I think Bat-Fleck is the best thing going for the film but it has its issues. The casting of Mamoa as Aquaman, great casting, but putting Aquaman in the film, unnecessary. Same with Victor Stone, AKA Cyborg. And for Wonder Woman, the casting of Gal Godat is horrendous. They have finally released an image of her, and yes, the costume looks phenomenal. Yes she is very hot. But I don’t by her as Wonder Woman. Yes she was in the Iraqi army, she just too skinny. Not to mention, she is not an actress. She is a model who acts. If you didn’t care to have a trained actress play the most iconic female superhero ever, why would not just get Gina Carano? That’s just my 2 cents. Facebook-20140728-012253 Facebook-20140728-012328 Facebook-20140728-012357 Facebook-20140728-012414

Next up we had Legendary. Legendary had two pretty big major announcements. Godzilla 2 will include more of our favorite monsters. Mothra, Rodan, and King Gidorah, AKA Monster Zero. I was in the camp of the not so thrilled with Godzilla. I felt they needed much more Godzilla in the Godzilla film. However, with the introduction of these three iconic monsters, I am back on board. Will they let me down? That remains to be seen. I will say though, historically, sequels give you more of what you want. Batman Returns more Batman, Terminator 2, more Terminator. So I assume that Godzilla 2, will give us more Godzilla. On a possibly related note. Legendary and Universal will be teaming up to give us what a teaser called Skull Island. Skull Island the legendary home of the iconic King Kong. Rumor has it that the film will give us an origin of Kong. How he back King of this island and the islanders began to worship him. As well that it will be taking place within the Godzilla universe. If this is true, it makes me even more excited that we could get King Kong Vs Godzilla later on down the road!

Warner Brothers also released a trailer and new poster for Mad Max: Fury Road. The film looks fun, Tom Hardy plays the title character and is definitely a good successor for Mel Gibson. It looks action packed, it looks like them going back and taking their time really paid off for them. I cannot wait to see this film!

WB also aired the Pilots of both Flash and Gotham. While most people have already seen the Flash pilot, The Gotham pilot was aired for the first time. Reception seems to be pretty positive. It is said to be much grounded in reality. Not being a Superhero television show, but a cop drama. Even characters like Robin Taylor’s Oswald Cobblepot, and Corey Michael Smith’s Edward Nygma are believable. The Arrow panel seemed to be the most fun with them showing an extended trailer for season 3. Looks like we will be upping the action and drama. Ra’s Al Ghul will apparently be making his long anticipated debut. They spoke of the crossovers that will take place between Flash and Arrow. Most notably Felicity’s presence on both show. The Constantine panel answered a few questions and also showed an extended trailer. Needless to say, DC is on top of their TV game.

I don’t know if there was a full panel, or not but at some point this weekend this image of The Thing pre CGI from the Fantastic FOur reboot surfaced. Looks about the same as The Hulk from the Avenges. First bit of good news in a while coming out of this film. Facebook-20140728-012312

Finally, the bread and butter, the winner of Comic Con, in my opinion. All though they did not announce any of their untitled projects, Marvel did give us a lot. Evangeline Lily will be playing Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym. Will probably be Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang’s love interest. Corey Stoll will be replacing Patrick Wilson as Darren Cross AKA Yellowjacket. Plot seems to revolve around Pym and Cross being business partners. The Ying and Yang of the business. Cross seems to be the one who wants to take the company in an evil direction while Pym is out to help mankind. Seems as Pym will recruit Lang to take his place and become the Ant Man.

Marvel brought out the Avengers and they answered some fun questions. Hemsworth was asked where he would like them to take Thor, to which he replied “I’d like to see them turn him into a woman”. Ruffalo joked about how he used to be nobody now he walks down the street and has a name, everyone yells “Hi Hulk”. All he pieces of the puzzle have been released and they create an amazing picture of the Avengers all being over powered by Ultron Drones. Most notably The Vision appears in the background in the top left corner. Finally they showed some footage. Do you remember the photo released a about a week ago with the Avengers all hanging out in plain clothes in Avengers Tower? Well the apparently the footage opened up there will all the Avengers joking and hanging around trying to pick up Mjolnir. Stark can’t do it, not even with an Iron Man glove or help from Rhodey, Banner can’t move, then Cap steps up to the plate and it budges just a little and they all go nuts. That is until a ruffling is heard and out walks a damaged Iron Man suit, that begins to speak of the extinction of the human race, and that he is the Ultron. A montage of action footage rolls, including Black Widow in her new outfit, Banner in a strait jacket, tanks being thrown. The footage ends with the Avengers laid out in a desolate desert. The Hulk raging out, then in comes Iron Man, in the Hulk Buster gear. The two go at it and the footage ends. I don’t know about you, but just the mere thought of how this looked gives me Goosebumps. I am so excited for next year!

To end Marvels panel they brought out James Gunn who revealed that Guardians 2 is coming. Says a lot for the studio to green light the film before the first has even been released. Guardians of the Galaxy is my most anticipated film of the year and I cannot wait to see it this Thursday night!!!!

San Diego Comic Con Day 2

Most of today’s news from Comic Con comes in the form of television. A lot of the shows like Game of Thrones and Walking Dead I don’t watch so I can’t really speculate. But 3 of the big shows they did speak of are pretty interesting news. We got some more character concept art from Avengers, which all seems to add together to make one huge photo. I will wait to talk and post that until the final pieces are revealed tomorrow. In the meantime, let’s get into the news.

The Arrow panel seemed a lot of fun. Olicity fans got pretty excited. I am not a fan of Olicity. While I will concede that Emily Rickards who plays Felicity is smoking ass hot, she is now where as fine as Caity Lotz who plays the Black Canary, Sara Lance. Lotz was not at the panel, which worried me until I saw the Canary in the trailer for season 3. Trailer is pretty epic. It looks like we will get some heat in the Arrow camp. As Diggle and Ollie seem to be having out. Felicity looks like she will be taking some bumps. And as for Roy, well we already showed the Arsenal costume. Thea’s story arc looks like it will be very exciting two. Thea, played by Willa Holland and he father Malcom Merlin, played by John Barrowman, seemed to be having the most fun on the panel. They said the Thea we know is no more, and I for one can’t wait to see, Speedy.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. announced some new cast members. Lucy Lawless will be playing Isabelle Hartley. A Veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that Coulson recruits to help rebuild the organization. Lance Hunter will be played by Nick Blood. Hunter is a mercenary who in the comics is the leader of S.T.R.I.K.E., the British counterpart to S.H.I.E.L.D.. Reed Diamond joins the cast Daniel Whitehall, a.k.a. Kraken. Whitehall seems to be the overarching bad guy for the season as he will be a leader in the Hydra organization. Hail Hydra. In the comics, Kraken possess a helmet that gives its wearer a magical and indestructible armor. Our final character will be Barbara Morse, the Mockingbird. No word yet on who will play her, but the character is a superbly trained athlete, gymnast, unarmed combatant, and spy. She is enhanced to the peak of human potential physically, and pretty much a pretty bad A chick. I admit the first season of S.H.I.E.L.D. was very slow, and basically, not good. But I stuck with it, and sooner, well more like later, it got a lot better. Most notably after Lady Sif showed. I am excited for the next season.

We didn’t get much info on Agent Carter. What we did learn is that rather unknown Louis D’Esposito will direct the pilot, Russo brothers who brought us the Winter Soldier will direct episodes 2 and 3. And The First Avenger Director will helm episode 4. When asked about Dominic Coper’s Howard Stark, Haley Atwell replied “That would be fantastic if that could happen” So I’m going to take that as a no, or he will show up very little, like Nick Fury does for S.H.I.E.L.D.. I can’t really say I am super excited for this one. I’ll watch it, but it’s not really on my countdown to list. It’s going to take place in the past, and outside the timeline, it just doesn’t seem like there is much they can do.

That’s pretty much all I got out of today. Tomorrow is the big day in Hall H. DC/WB, Fox, Sony, and Marvel. Can’t wait!

San Diego Comic Con day 1 top news stories

So today was a little tid bit of information out today, let’s just dive into and start with the DreamWorks panel. They released their upcoming schedule and it looks like we got some decent films coming our way. They first showed a short teaser for a film called Home. The plot seems to center around an alien race who attempt to take refuge on earth while hiding from their mortal enemy and make earth their new home. While attempting to relocate the humans, a young girl escapes and is accompanied on the run by a banished member of the alien race named Oh. Next up is a film called B.O.O. the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations. B.O.O. seems to center around a government organization that employs ghost to protect humans from hauntings. Two of the newest agents uncover a plot to destroy the organization and it is up to them to save the day. Finally, we get a little bit on the movie of the Penguins of Madagascar! Out came Comic Con virgins John Malkovich, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Apparently the Hall couldn’t help but ask Cumberbatch about the Dr. Strange rumors. To which he only replied maybe he’d be playing Nurse Normal. Funny guy. The three films seem fun. Penguins more than the other two.

Paramount took the stage next and dropped some major bombs. To start they announced a 2nd SpongeBob movie. Followed by the Ninja Turtles panel where they played some footage and talked about the film. Nothing new here. I haven’t seen many of the newer trailers and I’m pretty excited for the film. Next up they debuted the Hot Tub Time Machine 2 trailer. Which I will try to post at the bottom, don’t really know how. But it wasn’t anything special. Liked the first one, and you can’t judge a book by its cover, or a film by its trailer. There are a few funny spots, the nerd song, and the final clip.

Next up, well, I’ll get to what’s next. First they finished the Paramount panel with Interstellar. Matthew McConaughey and Chris Nolan showed up to discuss the film! I am very excited for this one, sadly I don’t think we get to see the trailer just yet, but from what I’ve heard it’ll be great. But now, Finally, The Rock has showed up at Comic Con! The Rock came out to apparently a tremendous ovation. He invited everyone to s special screening of Hercules, to which he was greeted by chants of Rocky, no, wait, it was another word, SHAZAAM! I think this entire Shazaam talk is misdirection. I think he’s going to be Black Adam. You don’t get the Rock, the most electrifying man in sports or entertainment and only let him on the screen half the time.IMG_1297 Aliens-Search-For-a-Home-in-First-Trailer-For-DreamWorks-Animation-Comedy IMG_1290 IMG_1292 IMG_1296 www.indiewire.com_-600x421

San Diego Comic Con Preview Day News

Ok so I am going to do my best to keep up with a little bit of San Diego Comic Con info. Sadly I am un able to attend this year. So obviously this is not going to be the first you’ve heard of this news, or if it is, thanks for coming here to get it. But I will do my best to give you a little insight on what I believe it all means, and where my opinions on what we got.

So today we got actually got a little bit of news today, and we kick it off with what I think is the most exciting, The Ant-Man concept art poster. Now keep this in mind, this is concept art. This isn’t a true poster. But from the look of it, I like it. You get Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd in the back, plus a pretty, Bad A looking Ant Man front and center. Ant Man is still a pretty big risk for Marvel. Much like Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be. Luckily it looks and sounds like Marvel has knocked it out of the park with Guardians. The hope is that even with all the drama behind Ant Man, if this concept art is any in indication of the tone the film will take, I for one, am very excited.

Next up, is CW’s Arrow. We have finally gotten our first look at Colton Haynes’ Arsenal costume. If you do not watch Arrow, you need! Arrow is, in my opinion, one of if not the best show on Television today. Haynes plays Roy Harper, who is training to be the hero we know as Arsenal and from the look of this, we are just about there. A lot of people have their opinions about the character, I for one actually enjoy his story arcs. And this costume, is awesome! It plays off of Stephen Amell’s Arrow costume very well.

We got some Spider-Man news. After what was a mixed reception to Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the internet blew up in speculation about what was next for the franchise. A lot of people feared their planned spin offs and sequels would be cancelled. Well luckily (in my humble opinion) that will not be happing. Sony announced that while yes The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has been pushed back to 2018, in its place, we will be getting the Sinister Six film on November 11 2016. This film has me really excited. While I enjoyed TASM2, I understand it had it problems. Sony does not have a very large gallery of hero’s to create a shared universe like Fox has with the X-Men and Fantastic 4, and WB has with all the DC property’s, and Marvel has done so perfectly with the Avengers. What Sony does have is Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. Which next to Batman is one of the largest and most interesting group of villains. The thought a villain centric film excites me. A movie where you are rooting against your main characters. I am excited to watch this develop.

In some other quick tad bits. Mad Max: Fury Road has released a new poster and image. This looks like it’s going to be a legit film. And we finally have gotten a logo for Warcraft starring Collin Ferrell. Pretty simple, and basic, hopefully this one does well. Along with Michael Fassbender’s Assassins Creed film this will do a lot for the future of video game movies (ZELDA!) Marvel has released two more conceptual art photos of Iron Man and the Scarlett which kicking some major robot butt. The marketing campaign for Age of Ultron looks to already be running and I love how it’s going. Finally the first image/logo for the Hitman film, another video game property, Agent 47 has been released. Exciting! Not much to tell from these photos other then they are all really cool!

Finally, last week Marvel announced 5 dates for upcoming Marvel films. None of which have been named. Today, a 6th was announced. May 4th 2018. So all together that gives us Avengers 2 on 5/1/15, Ant Man on 7/17/15, Cap 3 on 5/6/16, and untitled mystery films on 7/8/16, 5/5/17, 7/28/17, 11/3/17, 5/4/18, 7/6/18, 11/2/18 and 5/3/19. That’s a lot. Me personally, I think you got to assume the 1st is Dr Strange. Followed Guardians 2, followed Black Panther in 2017. Then you the new one which I will get into, Ant Man 2, and Thor 3 in 18, and finally Avengers 3 in 19. But what excites me about this separate date they announced, is Robert Downey Jr’s comments today. Downey said, “It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree,” Downey said. “When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.” He continued with “It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” he says—then adds a caveat. “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.” So that leaves me to believe that May 4th 2019 will be Iron Man 4. I am in the camp that was not a fan of Iron Man 3, but I still trust in Marvel. Hopefully these comments mean a deal will be worked out, and Iron Man 4 is coming! Hopefully with Jon Favreau back in the directors.
