Jason Momoa

#UniteTheSeven! Our first look at Aquaman

So Zack Snyder dropped a pretty cool little picture tonight! If you are a Twitter follower of the director of films such as 300, Sucker Punch, Man of Steel, and the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, then you got the chance to see the first image of Jason Momoa as the underappreciated superhero Aquaman. Miss it? Well don’t worry Jackass Nation, I got it for you right here!

Aquaman Tweet

Now I’m not going to lie. That’s pretty damn cool. Of all the characters that seem to be shoe horned into this film, I have been most anticipating is Momoa’s Aquaman. And this does not disappoint. There is obviously a risk with Aquaman. Most incarnations look pretty cheesy and dumb. The orange and green, the blonde Boy Scout look, it could’ve come off really bad. Luckily, Snyder has given us some significant differences.

The costume seems to blend a few of the more obscure incarnations of the character, especially the New 52, along with some classic, Polynesian battle gear. From what I have read the character will be portrayed as a more agile and distinct fighter, in and out of the seas he control. Where as the Bat will rely on tech and strategy, Aquaman will apparently have use of super strength to aide him in battle.

The picture is accompanied by the hashtag and slogan “Unite the Seven”. The question now raises, what is the meaning behind #UniteTheSeven? Is this telling us that it will be Aquaman bringing together the Justice League? Are we going to get more photos of other characters with the same hashtag? Or is it just talking about uniting the seven seas? Who knows? What I do know, is that I am willing to put down money, that we will be getting a trailer very soon. This late night tweet leads this Jackass to believe it is coming, and soon.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25 2016, and will star Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Momoa, and Ray Fisher. While the first standalone Aquaman is set for July 27 2018.
